Seven inductees to join CFISD Wall of Fame

Sept. 23, 2015—Seven honorees of distinction will be inducted into the 2015 CFISD Wall of Fame for their commitment and contributions to the educational experience of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

The Wall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Monday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Instructional Support Center (10300 Jones Road). The ceremony will be available to view live online by accessing the “Wall of Fame Live Streaming” link on the main page of the district website.

Six employees will be honored for their professional achievements at the state and national levels, along with the recipient of the Friend of Education award, which is presented to a community member who has made major contributions to enhance the educational experiences of CFISD students.

0923-WOF-David-Anthony.jpgThe Friend of Education award will be presented to Dr. David Anthony, the chief executive officer for Raise Your Hand Texas and CFISD school namesake. Dr. Anthony, a former CFISD superintendent, is a strong advocate for public education throughout Texas—supporting funding for principals to participate in programs such as the Harvard Leadership Program and the Rice University Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP). To date, 33 CFISD principals have received the opportunity to participate in these prestigious programs.

The other Wall of Fame inductees are:

0923-WOF-Mary-Ann-Alves.jpgMary Ann Alves, special needs bus driver in the transportation department. Alves is being honored for being named the Special Needs Driver of the Year by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation. She is in her 31st year in CFISD;
 
 

0923-WOF-Darlene-Davenport.jpgDarlene Davenport, director of guidance and counseling. Davenport is being honored for her role as president of the Texas School Counselors Association (TSCA). She has a total of 37 years in education, 23 of which have been in CFISD;

 

0923-WOF-Sarah-Mugavero.jpgSarah Mugavero, sixth-grade teacher at Goodson Middle School. Mugavero is being honored for receiving the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Secondary School TEACH Award. She is in her fourth year as a teacher, all of which have been in CFISD;
 

0923-WOF-Karla-Reyes.jpgKarla Reyes, fourth-grade bilingual teacher at Duryea Elementary School. Reyes is being honored for receiving the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Elementary School TEACH Award. She is in her fifth year of service in education, four of which have been in CFISD;

0923-WOF-Joan-Sutton.jpgJoan Sutton, special needs bus attendant for the district’s transportation department. Sutton is being honored for being named the Special Needs Attendant of the Year by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation. She is in her 11th year with CFISD; and

Wells is being honored for being named the 2015 Texas Outstanding Biology Teacher by the National Association of Biology Teachers. He is in his 13thyear of service in education, 12 of which have been in CFISD.
